Professor Dr Muhammad Z Mamun

Dr. Muhammad Z Mamun, former Professor, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, Bangladesh did his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka (First class 11th), Master of Business Administration (MBA) from American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon (in Management Science, 85%), MBA from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka (in General Management), and Ph.D. in Urban Development Management from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand is a Post-doctoral Fellow of Urban Environmental Management Program of the AIT, Bangkok. With more than 40 years teaching and research experience both at home and abroad he has specialization in the areas of Operations Management (OPM), Quality Management (TQM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Entrepreneurship Development and Risk & Disaster Management.

He has authored five books, edited one book, and contributed to 13 book sections. Dr. Mamun has over 185 publications (96 journal articles and 89 conference papers), in both national and international journals and proceedings in planning and management related areas. Dr. Mamun is awarded two times (2013 & 2017) the most prestigious “UGC (University Grants Commission) Bangladesh Award/Gold Medal” for his academic excellence in the areas of Economics and Business Studies. He is also three times winner (2001, 2007 & 2017) of the most esteemed “University of Dhaka Ibrahim Memorial Gold medal” for his outstanding academic and research work. 

His professional achievements include Pro-Vice Chancellor, East-West University, Director, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Editor, the Journal of Business Administration, IBA; Visiting Scholar at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, China; Visiting Scholar at the Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan;  Vice-President (Programs), Secretary and Member, Board of Governors, Asia-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA), Singapore; Member, Board of Directors, the International Academy of Financial Consumers (IAFICO), South Korea, etc. He attended over 70 international scholarly conferences and seminars and presented papers in different parts of the world. He attended 10 workshops and also coordinated over 22 national and international management and planning-related workshops. Dr. Mamun is a Fellow of the International Center for Asian Studies, Hong Kong, the Computer Society of Bangladesh, and the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh.
